If you have an EU/EFTA driver's license
Your driver’s license is still valid! EU and EFTA Member States mutually recognize the validity of their driving licenses, motor insurances and vehicle registration certificates. Therefore, driving licenses that been issued in EU and EFTA Member States remain valid in Poland.
However, if you have a temporary driver’s license, the above mentioned rule will not be applicable. You will then have to obtain a Polish driver’s license.
If you have a driver's license issued by a signatory of the Conventions on Road Traffic from 1949 and 1968
Your driver's license is valid for 185 days after your arrival in Poland! Please find the list of the signatories here.
If you live in Poland for more than 185 days
If you intend to live in Poland longer that 185, you need to submit an application for the exchange of your driver’s licence.
In order to exchange your driver’s licence, you need to contact your municipality. They will guide to the application form and documents you need to attach. Usually, you will have to attach:
a color and current photo with dimensions 3.5 x 4.5 cm ( as for ID card and passport);
driving license with a photocopy;
a residence card, visa or other document confirming the right to stay in the territory of the Republic of Poland or a certificate that you have been studying for at least six months;
a document confirming your stay in the city;
a medical certificate stating that there are no medical contraindications for driving (in the case of applicants for the first time for permission or in the case of extension of the validity of the document);
a psychological decision stating that there are no psychological contraindications for driving a vehicle (for category C1, C, D1, D, C1 + E, C + E, D1 + E, D + E) - if required;
proof of payment (you will be required to pay around 100 PLN).
Your new driver’s licence will be ready within several days.
When replacing a driving license issued abroad not specified in the Convention on Road Traffic signed in Geneva in 1949. and in Vienna in 1968, or not complying with the required formula, you must pass the theoretical exam. Only after that, you will be able to get the new driver’s licence issued. This will usually be the case with non-EU issued drivers’ licences.

You will need to obtain a Polish driver's license in order to drive in Poland.
