How to register for Irish Income Tax

When you start working for the first time, you must register for income tax. In this article you will learn how.

It is important to register for income tax to avoid paying so called emergency tax.

How to apply

  1. Register for myAccount Note: You will need your PPS number to register. If you have a verified MyGovID account you can also log in with that.

  2. Register your new job: Click on the ‘Update job or pension details’ link in ‘PAYE Services’ in myAccount.

Afterwards your tax credits will be calculated and you will be able to view your tax credit certificate (TCC) within two working days. To view your TCC, click on the ‘Manage your tax’ link in ‘PAYE Services’ in myAccount. An employer copy showing your total tax credits and rate bands will be made available to your new employer. Your employer can then make the correct tax deductions from your pay.
